Event & Arena News OHIO STATE BUCKEYES TO PLAY FIRST ROUND CCHA PLAYOFF SERIESThe Ohio State Buckeyes men's hockey team will play host to a first-round Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) playoff series this season at Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. The Buckeyes and a to be determined first-round opponent will face off on Friday, March 14, at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, March 15, at 1:05 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. If the series needs a third game, it will be held at Value City Arena on Sunday, March 16. Value City Arena, the Buckeyes' home rink, is unavailable due to the Ohio High School Athletic Association girls basketball championships scheduled that weekend. The Buckeyes, who are 21-9-3 overall and 14-7-2 in league play, are currently ranked 15th in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll and stand in third place in the CCHA. They have clinched over five teams (Miami, Alaska-Fairbanks, Nebraska-Omaha, Bowling Green and Lake Superior State), while three other teams (Northern Michigan, Western Michigan and Notre Dame) could catch the Buckeyes in the final standings by winning out. However, the Irish will face both the Broncos and Wildcats, making it impossible for all three teams to get the eight points needed to overtake OSU. Tickets to the Ohio State CCHA playoff games at Nationwide Arena are $15 for the general public and $8 for OSU students and are on sale at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, the Ohio State University Ticket Office and at all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers.
