NEW YORK, NY., November 3, 2014 – Seven-time GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift announced The 1989 World Tour on Good Morning America this morning just days after performing an epic concert in Times Square to over 20,000 fans, wrapping up promotion of her history making fifth studio album, 1989. The 1989 World Tour will be produced and promoted by AEG Live & The Messina Group (TMG), kicks off on May 20, 2015 in Louisiana and includes TWO nights at Nationwide Arena – September 17 & 18.
The 1989 World Tour will encompass eight countries and span four continents including North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. American Express® Card Members and members of TaylorSwift.com will have access to purchase tickets in advance beginning November 7. Last year, the North American portion of Taylor's sold out The RED Tour played to more than 1.36 million fans over 66 shows (including 13 stadium stops) in 47 cities in 29 states, Australia and Europe. Taylor Swift, who writes all of her own songs, is a global superstar, seven-time GRAMMY winner and the youngest winner in history of the music industry's highest honor, the GRAMMY Award for Album of the Year. She is the first artist since the Beatles (and the only female artist) to log six or more weeks at #1 in the U.S. with three consecutive studio albums.
